5G NR Technical Training

If you are an engineer who wants to work with 5G technology, this course is a must! We then end with a look at deployment considerations.

5G NR Rel 16 Technical Training

This one day course provides an overview of Release 16. It looks closely at RACH Enhancement, MIMO and Mobility Enhancement, CA/DC Enhancement, NR eURLLC, Power Saving, NR Voice Enhancement, NR-U and IAB, NR V2X, C-IOT, I-IOT, and NPN.

5G NR Air Interface Training

5G NR delivers significantly faster and more responsive mobile broadband experiences. It extends mobile technology to a multitude of new industries. This course introduces 5G air interface and associated technologies.

5G NR Call Processing: Standalone Mode

This course looks at 5G Evolution and Network Architecture, UE functions/procedures in idle mode, registration and PDU establishment, QoS and network slicing, RRC states and allowed transitions, call flows and procedures related to mobility, and other call processing considerations.

5G NR Call Processing: Non-Standalone Mode

This course introduces call processing non-standalone (NSA) mode, EN-DC options 3/3a/3x, NSA NR initial access, EN-DC procedures, beam management, and key MAC/PHY procedures.

5G NR for Industrial IoT Technical Training

IT engineers, managers, and IoT strategists should enroll in this course to learn about key 5G enablers and capabilities and considerations for deploying 5G in the industrial environment. The course covers architecture, deployment, and network management to provide a holistic view into the possibilities and challenges when launching a 5G industrial network.

Location and Positioning Technical Training

This half-day course provides an introduction to different location and positioning technologies and techniques. Key location technologies covered in the training include GNSS, as well as cellular based positioning using techniques like multilateration and multiangulation.

5G NR Release 16 Air Interface Training

This one-day course covers key enhancements and new verticals introduced in 3GPP Release 16. It discusses major air interface/protocol changes from physical, MAC, RLC, PDCP, and RRC to support these new features.

Special Topics in 5G

O-RAN Technical Training

This one-day course introduces the O-RAN architecture, interfaces, and open fronthaul; reviews the operations, administration, and maintenance required; and discusses the non- and near-time RAN intelligent controllers, white-box hardware, and security.

Virtualized RAN (vRAN) Technical Training

In this course, we cover how a RAN is virtualized, vRAN architecture and benefits, transport options, O-RAN architecture and interfaces, and vRAN deployment scenarios and considerations.

5G Core Network Training

The course starts with an introduction to 5G Core Networks. It then explains the 5G network architecture and 5GC protocols, discusses session management and 5GC policies, explains network slicing, 5GC security, EPC Interworking, and roaming, before closing with a look at 5GC services.

5G NR Massive MIMO and Active Antenna Systems

This half-day course introduces Massive MIMO and its evolution. It discusses 5G Rel 15 Massive MIMIO, active antenna system and beamforming, deployment considerations, and Massive MIMO in Rel 16 and beyond.

5G NR Network Slicing Overview

5G NR network slicing allows operators to create multiple virtual networks from the same physical network for scalable capacity, faster deployments, and lower latency. This course introduces 5G network slicing, including slice operation and management, use cases and applications, and deployment considerations.

5G Network Planning Workshop

Designed to support network, RF, and systems engineers when planning network infrastructure deployments, this course introduces 5G and covers key aspects of network design, including propagation and antenna considerations, link budgets, and coverage analysis. The course provides network planning solutions for a variety of deployment scenarios including SA and NSA, and covers common deployment issues such as physical cell identity (PCI) conflicts and root sequence index (RSI) collisions. The course closes by exploring coexistence considerations for 5G NR planning.

5G NR Capacity Planning

This one day course begins with an overview of 5G NR capacity planning and discusses air interface organization and capacity. It then explains DL common signals dimensioning, as well as PDCCH, PDSCH, Paging, UL common channels, and PUSCH dimensioning.

Voice Options for 5G: Non-Standalone Mode

This half-day course begins with an overview of 5G NSA network architecture. It continues with a look at voice options for NSA Mode: Option 3 Family, voice signaling overview: Option 3 Family, and roaming and emergency services.

VoNR Technical Training

Voice over New Radio (VoNR) offers connection to IMS and available services such as voice, video, and RCS in 5G standalone networks. This half-day course introduces voice services on 5G Standalone Networks; discusses network architecture, call flows, and mobility scenarios; and compares with alternative voice options such as EPS FB.

5G NR Beam Management and Mobility

This half-day course covers beam management and EN-DC mobility, introduces beam management concepts, describes SSB and CSI-RS based beam measurement and reporting, and much more. Read on to learn more.

5G NR Multi-Access Edge Computing

This course introduces edge computing, MEC and 5G architecture, MEC technology enablers, and deployment considerations. We also give a detailed overview of 5G MEC architecture including interfaces, building blocks, and routing mechanisms.

Carrier Aggregation & Dual-Connectivity in 5G NR

This half-day course introduces Release 15 new radio carrier aggregation and dual-connectivity, deployment considerations for both technologies, and enhancements defined in Release 16. Together, these technology features help allow operators to unleash the full power of 5G.

5G Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS)

In this course, we take a special look at how DSS works and learn the details for both MBSFN and non-MBSFN-based DSS, including NR PDSCH rate matching around LTE CRS and overhead considerations. We also discuss partial DSS and potential benefits compared to full DSS.

mmWave Link Budget & RF Network Design Consideration

This half-day course begins with introducing the motivation and challenges of mmWave. It then discusses the propagation aspects of mmWave, explains the fundamentals of mmWave antenna design, and discusses link budget, output, and expectations. It ends with explaining RF design considerations in mmWave.

5G Small Cells Training

This half-day course defines small cells and the motivations for using them, explains the characteristics and advantage of them, discusses optimal deployment scenarios and considerations, compares other techniques, and looks at product selection and performance.

Packet Switched Fallback (Data and Voice) Training

This half-day course introduces packet switched fallback for both data and voice, discusses network architecture and pre-requisites, looks at the different types of EPS fallback and enhancements, and reviews use cases. Read on to learn more.

URLLC Training

Ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) is one of the 5G foundational technologies to support IoT in transportation, manufacturing, and health care. This course introduces the technology and looks at the features that make it possible in both Release 15 and Release 16.

5G NR NSA Log Analysis Workshop: Sub-6

5G non-standalone (NSA) mode leverages existing network infrastructure to provide a faster and more reliable network without replacing all the existing infrastructure. In this one-day course, you will look at the EN-DC setup procedures and discuss 5G system information, RACH procedures, DL and UL data operation, and EN-DC mobility and beam management.

5G NR NSA Log Analysis Workshop: mmWave

Enhance your team’s technical skills and understanding of 5G NR NSA Log Analysis. Train with engineers at Qualcomm Technologies: a world pioneer in 5G technology.

5G NR Carrier Aggregation Log Analysis Workshop

This half-day course introduces Release 15 New Radio Carrier Aggregation (CA). Device logs, collected in live 5G networks, are presented to demonstrate how NR CA works in all aspects, including NSA mmW DL/UL, SA/NSA sub-6 F+T, T+F, and F+F CA. We also discuss NR CA deployment scenarios and considerations.

5G NR Massive MIMO Log Analysis Workshop

Take your understanding of Massive MIMO to the next level with this half-day course that provides hands-on training with real-world log files, configuration, and reporting.

5G Log Analysis for Standalone Mode Workshop

The course begins with a look at cell acquisition and then discusses RACH and RRC, registration, PDU sessions, downlink and uplink operations, intra-RAT mobility, and QoS network slicing.

VoNR Log Analysis Workshop

VoNR is the technology of choice to carry voice over 5G NR networks. This hands-on workshop features SIP message details as well as log details of VoNR procedures and call scenarios. This course requires knowledge of VoNR and 5G NR Standalone Call Processing and does not cover any deployment specific or vendor specific features.

5G UL Tx Switching Log Analysis Workshop

This hands-on workshop helps engineers understand 5G UL Tx switching features and procedures. We analyze log information related to UE capability, configurations, and data transmission based on release 16 and release 17 specifications. We also build on the knowledge acquired from our 5G UL Tx Switching Technical Training course and further explore how UL Tx switching features can improve uplink performance.

5G NR Sub-6 and mmWave Dual Connectivity: Log Analysis

NR Dual connectivity (NR-DC) is a technique for improving user throughput in certain 5G scenarios. In this course, we present important aspects of NR-DC along with real-world UE logs to provide an in-depth, hands-on analysis of the concepts. We guide you through the processes by which a capable device establishes dual connectivity in 5G, how the data moves between the device and the base stations, and what occurs during mobility for an NR-DC-connected UE.

Packet Switched Fallback (Data & Voice) Log Analysis Workshop

For engineers and subject matter experts actively engaged with 5G voice, this course offers a deep dive into call flows and messaging/signaling related to evolved packet system fallback (EPS-FB). The concepts covered in this course are intended to help engineers understand what to look for in user equipment (UE) and network traces when deploying, debugging, and optimizing EPS-FB. This half-day course uses UE logs to discuss signal registration and establishment of data and voice during Packet Switched Fallback.

5G NSA Troubleshooting Workshop: mmWave

5G mmWave is one of the key areas to enable GBPS throughputs and low latency performance. While mmWave provides ample performance gains, it is also prone to RF impairments. This full-day workshop is designed to help you understand real world 5G deployment issues, how to troubleshoot, and how to optimize performance.

5G NSA Troubleshooting Workshop: Sub-6

This one-day course looks at the various components of sub-6 including EN-DC setup procedures, NR RACH, control channels, downlink and uplink performance, and UL EN-DC mobility management.
