Voice over New Radio (or “VoNR”) is a technology that enables users to make and receive voice calls over 5G networks. It leverages the capabilities of 5G to deliver clearer and more natural-sounding voice calls; it allows for the simultaneous use of data-intensive services; and it enables new possibilities for voice-based applications.

The following are five key benefits that VoNR brings to the wireless landscape:

1. Enhanced Voice Quality: VoNR offers improved voice quality compared to traditional voice calls. It utilizes advanced audio codecs, such as enhanced voice services (EVS) of super-wide band (SWB) and EVS of full band (FB), which can result in clearer and more natural-sounding voice calls.
