5G Certification for University Students

The Qualcomm Wireless Academy (QWA) offers a unique 5G University Program, which consists of beginner-level 5G training and certification for university students looking to enhance their knowledge and skills in a growing field. In this article, we discuss what the program entails, who should sign up, and how students can register.

QWA’s 5G University Program

Our 5G University Program aims to improve students’ skills and help students build their professional portfolios. The program consists of two key features outlined below:

• Free 5G Training: Students may enroll in two free 5G training courses that dive into 5G, how it works, how it is changing the way we communicate, and real-life use cases. The training is online, self-paced, and taught by experienced engineers from Qualcomm Technologies. The two courses combined (5G Primer and Fundamentals of Cellular Communication & 5G) take roughly 8-10 hours to complete.
• Earn a 5G Certification: In addition to completing the training, students may sign up for our 5G Introductory-Level Certification exam, which is based on the courses discussed above. The exam is conducted online, so students may choose a convenient time to take it. Students who pass the exam receive a 5G certificate from Qualcomm Technologies that certifies them as having foundational 5G knowledge. We encourage students to post their certificate on their resume/CV and LinkedIn profile.

While the training portion of this program is free, the certification exam costs $29 to take. While we encourage students to take the exam and receive the certificate, the exam is optional, so students may choose to only enroll in the free training if they would like.

All Students are Eligible for QWA’s 5G University Program

Our 5G University Program is open to all university students around the world. While any student is eligible to sign up, we encourage the following students to strongly consider enrolling:

• Engineering students who are looking to understand 5G technology fundamentals and how 5G works. This is an excellent stepping-stone for more advanced training in a high-demand field.
• Business students who want to understand how 5G is changing the way we communicate and conduct business. This is an excellent way to learn about a key technology and how it can impact business decisions.
