Prerequisites:
Objectives:
- List the various voice options possible for an LTE network.
- Explain the functions of and interactions between the various LTE and IMS core network elements in a VoLTE capable network.
- Explain the concept and key feature set of Rich Communications Services (RCS).
- Identify the various transport protocols (RTP, RTCP, UDP, TCP) and their functions to support
- VoLTE related signaling and media traffic.
- List various Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling messages used for VoLTE call scenarios.
- Describe the VoLTE device registration process and VoLTE call setup signaling procedures with end-to-end QoS management in a VoLTE network.
- Describe how a VoLTE call can be seamlessly transferred to legacy networks using Single Radio Voice Call Continuity (SRVCC).
- Explain how emergency calls are handled in VoLTE networks.
- Explain the various features and enhancements related to the LTE upper layer protocols (dual IP stack, PDCP, ROHC, RLC-UM) to support VoLTE.
- Describe the various features and enhancements related to the LTE lower layer protocols (SemiPersistent Scheduling, TTI Bundling, Connected DRX) needed to support voice over LTE for a large number of wireless users over a wide coverage area.
- List VoLTE call performance metrics for Control Plane and User Plane and explain VoLTE capacity estimates.
